Frequently asked questions

How is equipment operating cost per hour calculated?

Operating cost per hour = owning cost (depreciation, interest, insurance, taxes) + running cost (fuel, preventive maintenance, repairs, operator), each divided by the hours the machine works. The calculator uses the purchase price, resale value, expected life and monthly utilisation you enter to compute every component per hour.

What is the operating cost of a JCB 3DX backhoe loader per hour?

For a new JCB 3DX (about ₹32 lakh) working 220 hours a month with diesel at ₹90/L, the total cost is typically ₹750–₹1,100 per hour including depreciation, 4.5 L/hr fuel, maintenance, insurance and repairs. Adding an operator at ₹18,000 a month adds roughly ₹80 per hour. Select the model above to see the exact breakdown for your inputs.

How much does a diesel forklift cost to run per hour in India?

A 3 T diesel forklift (₹12–₹18 lakh) running 200 hours a month usually costs ₹250–₹450 per hour all-inclusive. An equivalent electric forklift costs ₹150–₹300 per hour because electricity and maintenance are cheaper, though a battery replacement must be budgeted every few years.

What is the running cost of a 125 kVA DG set?

A 125 kVA diesel generator consumes about 19–20 L/hr at 75% load, so fuel alone is roughly ₹1,750/hr at ₹90/L. With depreciation, servicing and overhaul reserves the all-in cost is about ₹1,900–₹2,300 per hour.

How do I calculate truck running cost per km?

Running cost per km = (depreciation + interest + insurance + permits) ÷ annual km + fuel price ÷ mileage + maintenance and tyre cost per km + driver salary ÷ monthly km. A 28 T tipper doing 3.5 km/L and 8,000 km a month typically costs ₹35–₹48 per km.

Are the equipment prices accurate?

Prices are indicative 2026 ex-showroom / ex-works figures for India collected from public listings and dealer quotations. They vary by state, variant and discounts, so edit the purchase price to match your own quotation; every other default adjusts automatically.

What is the difference between owning cost and operating cost?

Owning cost is what you pay even if the machine is idle: depreciation, interest on capital, insurance and taxes. Operating cost is incurred only when it works: fuel or electricity, preventive maintenance, repairs and operator wages. Rental rates must cover both plus margin.

How do I set a rental rate for my equipment?

Compute your total owning plus operating cost per hour, then add your target margin. The calculator shows a suggested rental rate per hour, per 8-hour day and per month for the margin you choose.
